Basic Communication Skills
This ten-week evening class helps participants develop a tool kit of skills to deal with challenging situations at home, at work or in social life. Not guaranteed to solve every problem they none-the-less significantly up your chances of happy outcomes in resolving conflicts and generating intimacy.
This class is based on the Saskatchewan Newstart Program, sponsored by the federal government as empowerment for disadvantaged groups. It teaches a set of inter-personal communication skills using a fully experiential approach. No writing is involved.
The skills are divided between effective listening and clear expression arising out of self-awareness. They are practiced in the group, in one-to-one and small-group exercises and role plays that build strong bonds between the participants.
